"Volunteers don't necessarily have the time, they just have the heart!"
Thank you for sharing your time and talents. Volunteering helps us and it can help you meet other parents while you work together to enrich your child's school experience.
We like having our parents involved in the life of the school. Volunteering gives you a chance to be part of the team educating your child!
We need people to help with lunch! If you can help us from 11 -12:30 on any day, please contact Mrs. Harutunian. Having parents help at lunch allows the teachers to enjoy their lunchtime too.
Do you have a special talent, skill or hobby you would like to share? We offer a variety of clubs offered by the teachers. Perhaps you would like to run your own club for 6 weeks? We have three different sessions. Contact Mrs. Harutunian if you have an idea!
Room liaisons are vital to the school community. Liaisons help the PTO and the teachers to get information out to parents. Most information is passed on through email so this is a position you can do from home!
There are opportunities for all. Don't forget to check the PTO calendar and the Principal's Newsletter. Parents are always needed to help plan or help with special activities like the Halloween party or Field Day.
Of course, don't neglect the PTO. We have a wonderful organization that works hard for both the school and the students. The dedicated parents not only organize fundraisers, but they also plan special days for the kids. There is always a need for parents to help with PTO activities.
PK and K parents are invited to be "Mystery Readers." Check with your child's teacher if you wish to surprise your child one day.
A final idea...you may wish to volunteer to chaperone a field trip. Teachers will make you aware of any help they might need. In all cases, you must submit a CORI form if you are going to be working with children. Be sure to submit your form!
All schools in Massachusetts require paid staff and volunteers (parent, guardian or nanny) to have a Criminal Offender Record Information “CORI” background check conducted. St. Mary's School is required to submit CORI forms each year to the Archdiocese. Any information obtained through a background check is shared with the principals of the schools only. Other staff members and parent volunteers are not allowed to have access to this information. CORI forms will be available for you to fill out at the Back to School Night or in the school office. Please don’t mail in a CORI form to the school - you have to submit your form in person and have your picture identification (license) checked.
