First grade is truly a year of transformation for your young learner. We will build on the foundation started in Kindergarten as we grow academically, socially, and spiritually. 

Throughout the year, we will grow as readers, writers, mathematicians and scientists. We will learn important phonics skills and decoding strategies that will help us become better readers. We will also strengthen our number sense as we learn place value, addition and subtraction and mental math strategies. Small group differentiation and hands-on learning centers will be the focus to help meet the needs of each individual child. 

First graders will also grow in their Catholic faith by learning about God’s love, and how to treat people the way they would like to be treated. 

It is my goal to foster a warm and positive community of learners where everyone feels valued, welcomed and loved. I am excited to get to know your child and watch them transform over the course of the school year!
